Flexible working arrangements
We support flexible working arrangements to allow our employees to achieve a greater balance between their work, family, and other responsibilities they may have. Flexible arrangements are valued by our employees, and include options such as flexi-time/accrued hours, working from home, part-time and job share, and purchased leave. Applicants are encouraged to ask about flexible working options.
Employees accrue recreation leave (20 days per year) and receive 17.5% annual leave loading (for non-executive employees). Sick leave is accrued (12 days per year). Recreation and sick leave is pro-rata for part-time employees.
After 7 years of service in the South Australian Public Sector, employees are also eligible to access long service leave (some service with other levels of government may also be recognised).
Super SA Triple S fund is one fund for Public Sector employees, however, employees can select a superfund of their choice. Super SA Triple S fund is a tax deferred scheme, has no annual concessional contribution caps, and has relatively low administration fees in comparison to other funds. More information is available at www.supersa.sa.gov.au.
Alternatively, most Triple S members, including new public sector employees, will be given the option to choose a superannuation fund that suits their personal needs, under new laws that have passed State Parliament.
Salary sacrifice (packaging)
Salary sacrificing is available to employees who can arrange their income as a mixture of salary and other benefits, and may result in a reduction in the amount of income tax payable. Options available include additional superannuation contributions, home office or work-related equipment, and novated leases for a motor vehicle.
Employees are still required to pay any Fringe Benefits Tax liability for non-superannuable benefits. More information is available from the Office of the Commissioner of Public Sector Employment.
