Flexible working arrangements

The  Authority recognises the importance of work-life balance and supports employees by offering flexible working arrangements to create a healthy work environment and can assist to lift the Authority’s performance, with improved outcomes for all.

Leave

Employees accrue recreation leave (20 days per year) and receive 17.5% annual leave loading (for non-executive employees). Sick leave is accrued (12 days per year). Recreation and sick leave is pro-rata for part-time employees.

After 7 years of service in the South Australian Public Sector, employees are also eligible to access long service leave (some service with other levels of government may also be recognised).

Superannuation

Super SA Triple S fund is one fund for Public Sector employees, however, employees can select a superfund of their choice. Super SA Triple S fund is a tax deferred scheme, has no annual concessional contribution caps, and has relatively low administration fees in comparison to other funds. Alternatively, most Triple S members, including new public sector employees, will be given the option to choose a superannuation fund that suits their personal needs, under new laws that have passed State Parliament.

Salary sacrifice (packaging)

Salary sacrificing is available to employees who can arrange their income as a mixture of salary and other benefits, and may result in a reduction in the amount of income tax payable. Options available include additional superannuation contributions, home office or work-related equipment, and novated leases for a motor vehicle.

Employees are still required to pay any Fringe Benefits Tax liability for non-superannuable benefits. More information is available from the Office of the Commissioner of Public Sector Employment.
