South Australians directly affected by the Yorketown fire are being encouraged to apply for one-off emergency grants to assist with immediate, temporary relief.
The grants – of up to $700 per family - can be used at the discretion of each recipient but are intended to pay for essential items such as food, toiletries, clothing and medication.
The Personal Hardship Emergency Grants are being made available in the wake of the Yorketown fire – in which 11 properties were destroyed.
People affected by the fire can receive up to $700 per family (or $280 per individual adult). The immediate, emergency relief will be provided to people who have had to evacuate their homes and for those who cannot yet return home because roads remain blocked.
Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
People can apply for the grants in person at the Emergency Relief Centre at the Stansbury Bowling Club, 19 Weaver St, Stansbury. If approved, grant recipients will receive an ATM card so they can access cash funds.
