Flourishing garden at Housing SA site

Housing SA Community Gardens sunflowers and vegetable boxes

A beautiful and thriving community garden has been established at one of our Housing SA sites.

Residents at the site have worked with the Authority and project partners from the Adelaide Botanic Garden to create the garden as part of a horticultural therapy program.

Tenants told SA Housing Authority staff the garden had benefitted them in a number of ways.

They said a previously unused portion of the site was now a beautiful space to spend time outside and grow their own fresh food that they could eat.

The taste of home-grown fresh food was “so good”. They said a caring tenant community had grown, centred around the garden.

New remote houses built at Mimili

New houses built at Mimili

Works to build six new houses in the APY Lands are complete.

Indigenous construction company Wiltja Constructions was contracted by the SA Housing Authority to build the homes at Mimili as part of a five year program to replace 26 old houses across the APY Lands.

Wiltja employed three Indigenous apprentices and exceeded its initial 30% Indigenous employment target, achieving over 50%.
The completion of these homes allows the program to shift focus to complete 4 partially constructed houses in Pipalyatjara, a community bordering the NT, WA and SA boarders.

A massive thank you to everyone involved in the recovery efforts - we’re proud of you all.

Tenant art brightens Marion Housing SA

Two beautiful pieces of Indigenous art are decorating the Marion Housing SA office.

Local Aboriginal artist and Housing SA tenant Christine was commissioned by the office to produce the artwork during NAIDOC Week last year.

The eye-catching pieces are a very welcome addition to the office's staff recreation and lunch area.
