We are excited to be working closely with Aboriginal peoples and organisations to build a $10 million village where Aboriginal Elders can live independently in affordable, long-term, culturally appropriate housing in Adelaide's south.

The Elders village will be built close to “Warriparinga” – a culturally significant site – near the Sturt River in Bedford Park, in a partnership with not-for-profit housing provider Aboriginal Community Housing Limited, the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation and the Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation.

The new Elders village will provide 40 individual homes for our elders at risk of homelessness, with culturally inclusive features designed to allow residents to remain in their homes as they age.

This is just one of many projects to create better housing choices for Aboriginal peoples living in South Australia as part of the State's new Aboriginal Housing Strategy 2021-2031.
