Build Your Career
Build Your Career is a building and construction pre-employment training program delivered by SYC in partnership with SA Housing Trust. The program combines accredited workplace training, practical work sessions and theory-based learning.
Participants complete an Introduction to Construction Skill Set (SSDIS01008) and gain hands on experience while refurbishing an SA Housing Trust property. The skills and experience gained prepare participants for work experience and job trials with builders engaged by SA Housing Trust.
Build Your Career is a 5 week program, delivered face to face, four days a week. The program is delivered multiple times each year. Site locations vary and will be confirmed with participants before the course begins.

Doorways 2 Construction (D2C)
doorways2construction™ is South Australia’s premier secondary schools’ program for the building and construction industry. D2C provides students with a broad introduction to the building and construction industry while gaining a solid foundation of skills and knowledge that articulate into a range of vocational training courses and career pathways that are recognised, endorsed and in-demand by industry.
Since 2001, the SA Housing Trust (the Trust) has partnered with CITB and secondary schools in regions with a high number of Trust properties. This collaboration involves the Trust offering vacant Trust properties requiring refurbishment, while CITB provides funding to subsidise an onsite design and technology teacher to support students' practical learning experiences. This fantastic initiative provides students with valuable hands-on construction experience in a secure and practical environment. Every year, properties are made available in northern Adelaide, southern Adelaide, and Whyalla, offering students unique learning opportunities.
