This project will deliver four innovative modular homes as part of the Commonwealth Government’s Social Housing Accelerator Payment, with $1.92 million in funding in Ceduna.
The development aims to provide public housing for Aboriginal people and forms part of a broader strategy to trial modular construction in regional South Australia, addressing challenges such as trade shortages, building supply constraints, and higher construction costs.
Key features:
- Four modular homes: two two-bedroom and two three-bedroom homes
- Designed for public housing allocation to Aboriginal people
- Volumetric modular construction method, with building modules manufactured off-site in a South Australian factory and transported for on-site installation
- Opportunity to pilot modular housing in regional areas to improve cost efficiency and delivery timeframes
- Anticipated design variations to meet key public housing requirements within modular construction constraints.
