We are committed to delivering more than 1,000 new affordable home ownership opportunities by 2026 through the Affordable Housing Initiative (AHI).
Affordable housing is a home where the household is generally paying no more than 30% of their annual income on rent or mortgage repayments. This ensures that affordable housing is appropriate for the needs of a range of low- to moderate-income households, and priced so that these households can meet other basic living costs such as food, clothing, transport, medical care and education.
The aim of the AHI is to create new affordable housing supply to help low- and moderate-income earners access the benefits of home ownership, create value through development and investment activities to fund additional social and affordable housing initiatives, and provide significant economic activity and employment within the residential construction industry through government investment in land development and housing construction for affordable housing.
Homes delivered through the AHI are available for purchase to those who meet the HomeSeeker SA eligibility criteria. AHI homes remain listed on HomeSeeker SA until sold to an eligible buyer.
