Located at Warriparinga near the Sturt River in Bedford Park, Purrkanaitya Aboriginal Elders Village will deliver 40 culturally appropriate homes for Aboriginal Elders at risk of homelessness. Built and managed by Aboriginal people, the village is designed to support Elders to live independently on country in safe, affordable and secure housing.
The project is a collaboration between Aboriginal Community Housing Ltd (ACHL), Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC), Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation (KYAC), SA Housing Trust and Housing Australia.

- 40 one-bedroom homes designed for Elders aged 50+
- Accessible design including stepless entries and bathroom grabrails
- Communal areas and culturally significant outdoor firepits
- Located near the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre
- Managed by ACHL with support from Aboriginal organisations
- Vacated Housing SA homes reallocated to Aboriginal clients in urgent need
- Homes built to support ageing in place and community connection
- Supports the SA Housing Trust’s Aboriginal Housing Strategy 2021–2031.
