Build Your Career
Build Your Career is a full-time, 11-week building and construction pre-employment training course. It combines classroom learning delivered by Registered Training Organisation SYC and hands on construction experience gained while refurbishing an SA Housing Authority property. Site locations vary and will be confirmed with participants before the course begins.
Participants will learn skills needed to prepare for work with builders engaged by SA Housing Authority.
The program combines units from Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways (FSK20113) with some units from Certificates I and II in Construction (CPC20111 and CPC20112).
Following completion of the course, SA Housing Authority will organise graduate work placements and job trials with builders.
Doorways 2 Construction
doorways2construction™ is South Australia’s premier secondary schools’ program for the building and construction industry. The program provides students with a broad introduction to the building and construction industry while gaining a solid foundation of skills and knowledge that articulate into a range of vocational training courses and career pathways that are recognised, endorsed and in-demand by industry.
SA Housing Authority has collaborated with CITB and the secondary school sector of South Australia since 2001 to provide vacant Authority properties in need of refurbishment. Allowing students to gain hands on construction experience in a safe and practical environment. Properties are provided annually across northern Adelaide, southern Adelaide and Whyalla.
Building Links provides senior students at selected schools with opportunities to take part in a course with a construction pathway.
Like D2C, Building Links is recognised in SACE credits and combines structured workplace training at a live construction site, practical work sessions and theory. As part of the course, students will gain valuable hands-on experience while renovating and remodelling existing Housing SA properties.
Participating students will undertake training at a Certificate II level with a general introduction to construction skills, knowledge, career development and worksite safety.
