As part of a $200million investment in South Australia’s public housing,  the SA Housing Authority (the Authority) is building 437 new homes (including metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia) through the Public Housing Improvement Program (PHIP). This is in addition to 127 new builds being delivered following a commitment in the State Government’s A Better Housing Future plan, announced in response to the extraordinary pressure the current housing market is placing on South Australians in need.

Overall additional homes are being constructed that previously planned. This is on top of the SA Housing Authority’s ongoing capital works program with additional homes currently scheduled by 2024.

The Public housing improvement program also includes major works on vacant houses to make them available for families in need and improvements to the amenities of tenanted public housing homes.
