Regional SA new builds at Pt Augusta

The Malinauskas Government is delivering bricks and mortar support for vulnerable low income households in regional South Australia, with dozens of new public homes completed, contracted, and under construction in regional communities.

Visiting Whyalla for today’s State Cabinet meeting, Minister for Housing and Urban Development Nick Champion has released the latest data on public housing builds and projects in regional centres.

The data shows 65 new public homes have recently been completed in regional SA, 91 new public homes are currently under construction, with a further 16 new public homes contracted and construction set to start on site in the coming weeks.

Many of the new public homes are being delivered through the Malinauskas Government’s $177.5 million Public Housing Improvement Program (PHIP), which is funding more than 430 new public homes in Adelaide and regional SA.

The SA Housing Trust allocates $200 million annually to deliver new public housing in Adelaide and regional SA.

Today’s public housing builds data shows that in Whyalla, 10 new homes have recently been completed, 27 homes are currently under construction, with a further 9 new public homes contracted and due to commence shortly on site. .

The SA Housing Trust is the state’s biggest supplier of social housing for rent, providing secure and affordable housing for around 50,000 tenants living in more than 30,000 properties in Adelaide and regional South Australia.
