New build properties in Adelaide's western suburbs

South Australia is set to receive a $135.8 million this year from the Commonwealth’s $2 billion Social Housing Accelerator program, which has been agreed by National Cabinet. The funding is anticipated to deliver a further 300 to 400 homes on top 564 new public housing homes already being built. With the sale of 580 other homes stopped, public housing in South Australia is to be boosted.

The $2 billion Social Housing Accelerator program is in addition to almost $10 billion in Commonwealth funding earmarked for affordable housing in the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF).

Other housing affordability initiatives include:

  • abolishing stamp duty for first home buyers that purchase a new home valued up to $650,000 or vacant land valued up to $400,000 to build a new home
  • fast-tracking 25,000 new blocks north and south of Adelaide
  • delivering new houses in regional centres for health workers, teachers and police
