The State’s Aboriginal Housing Strategy is our long-term plan to improve housing outcomes and help create conditions where Aboriginal peoples in South Australia can thrive.

The strategy features beautiful artwork by Yorta Yorta artist Karen Briggs, which tells the story of the voices we heard from the Aboriginal community in South Australia about how the housing sector should operate within their communities.

The central focus of the artwork is a large circle with horseshoe symbols attached to represent a meeting place for the original consultations, with small, rounded symbols that represent Aboriginal peoples in South Australia.

The larger circles located over them, rippling out, show a covering for Aboriginal peoples to access safe, culturally responsive services for transitional housing and affordable home ownership.

Thank you Karen for your wonderful representation!
